Lance's Black Sabbath Size 14
The Black Sabbath is tied to represent all the caddis flies. It is tied all in black with a peacock herl thorax. It gives a great silhouette especially during cloudy stormy winter and spring days on the Lower Sacramento River. This fly had no name until one day in the winter day on the Lower Sac. It was Sunday and I was drifting with a mentor of mine Ray Narbaitz. After he landed several big fish on the fly Ray asked me what the fly was. I told him there was no name to it, but it represented a caddis fly. He laughed and said, “Black Sabbath”, and the name stuck. Fished on a High Stick (Euro) rig or dead drift it underneath an indicator this fly is must on cloudy stormy days on the Lower Sacramento River.
