These Brian Chan bomber-style flies have become a staple in my midge box. A great fly that has fooled fish all over the world. One of my favorite midges to use at Lake Almanor, Crowley Lake, Lake Davis, Baum Lake, and Manzanita Lake in all sizes. I use black and/or red midges deep in the water column or anywhere in the water column on dark, overcast days, and gray midges shallow in the water column on bright, sunny days. These midges are bulletproof and can be fished repeatedly without wearing them out. These flies are tied on the Daiichi Model 1760 hook and finished with a tungsten bead. These flies work.
Mud Candy is my favorite Bomber-style midge to imitate the “Blood Midge” in larger sizes, which is loved on Lake Almanor and Crowley Lake, and in smaller sizes by the Brown Trout at Manzanita Lake.
