Yuba River

Yuba River

The Yuba River is one of the finest trout fisheries in the Sacramento Valley. It holds beautiful wild fish that at times love to eat flies and at other times refuse everything. The trout can be what we call “finicky."  This river is easily fished from a drift boat and is a great place to chase rainbows and steelhead ... yes, steelhead. A tributary of the Feather, it holds both resident trout and ocean-run steelhead.

Most anglers drive right by the Yuba, headed for the Feather or even beyond to the Trinity. Fishing the Yuba is a true blessing and the trout should be treated like kings. The trout fishing is good all year long. Starting with the Skwala stoneflies in late winter, followed by the March Browns, intertwined with caddis, golden stones and baetis, this fishery is hard to beat. The steelhead start to show up in September and the fishery really comes alive!
